Purchasing Division receives Excellence award for 11th year

The City of Redlands Purchasing Division was recently awarded the 2025 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. The AEP Award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that demonstrate a commitment to procurement excellence. The annual program recognizes Innovation, Professionalism, E-Procurement, Productivity, and Leadership in the procurement function. This is the 11th consecutive year the City of Redlands has received the award.

The AEP program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually.

For 2025, there were 216 successful applicants representing 26 U.S. states and Canada.

The City of Redlands Procurement Division is a proud leader of best practices implementations, such as a fully automated warehouse and an E-Procurement system, which transformed the manual procurement process into an electronic one, allowing the City to gain greater oversight of its purchases, greater visibility into every stage of the procurement process and increased savings and efficiency due to competition. Those systems make the procurement process transparent, and reduce opportunity for fraud and corruption due to automated procedures. The eProcurement system is available to vendors at the City’s website at http://www.cityofredlands.org/purchasing.

In addition to the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI), the AEP is sponsored by the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO), Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials (FAPPO), the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP), Texas Public Purchasing Association (TxPPA), and the Canadian Public Procurement Council / Conseil canadien des marchés publics (CPPC).

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) is supported by the Airport Purchasing Group (APG), AXIA Cooperative, GOVMVMT, National Cooperative Procurement Partners (NCPP), Omnia Partners, Pavilion, Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC), Strategic Government Resources (SGR), and the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC).
