Commission to participate in Climate Action Plan study session
The Planning Commission will participate in a Climate Action Plan Update study session, including review, discussion and recommendations on preferred Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction strategies, during their meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Redlands City Council Chambers at 35 Cajon St.
City Staff will discuss the community workshops and survey conducted last October. Review the staff report here.
The 2017 Climate Action Plan is designed to reinforce the City’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and demonstrate how the City will comply with State of California’s GHG emission reduction standards. As a Qualified GHG Reduction Strategy, the plan will also enable streamlined environmental review of future development projects, in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The 2017 Climate Action Plan was prepared concurrently with the City of Redlands 2035 General Plan (adopted in December 2017), and the CAP provides analysis of GHG emissions to the year 2035, which is also the horizon year for the General Plan. View a copy of the Climate Action Plan here.
A draft of the updated Climate Action Plan is expected to be completed and available in the coming months.
