Drivers arrested during weekend DUI checkpoint
Four drivers were arrested and four others cited during a Redlands Police DUI checkpoint Friday, May 23.
A total of 456 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Citrus Avenue, east of Church street, between 6 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.
One driver was arrested for driving under the influence. Another was arrested on a DUI warrant. Two other drivers were arrested, one for resisting an officer and the second for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Three drivers were cited for driving without a license and another for driving on a suspended license. One vehicle was impounded.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
