City again invites residents’ input in communitywide survey
For the sixth consecutive year, the City of Redlands is inviting all residents to give us your thoughts on priorities for your government and the quality of life in Redlands.
This week, the City launched the National Community Survey™, a comprehensive quality of life survey inviting a random sample of residents, representing a cross section of the City’s population, to provide direct input to your local government decision-making process. In 2021, the City first used the National Community Survey™, asking local residents to provide their opinions.
Randomly selected households will receive mailed survey invitations over the next few weeks. If you receive an invitation, please follow the instructions and share your input. If you aren’t selected for this initial survey effort, a community-wide survey will be available shortly. Watch the City’s social media for announcements, or sign up to be notified when that survey is ready: polco.us/n/res/signup. The survey closes on Aug. 26.
Developed by independent consultant Polco with input from City staff, the NCS, allows the City to compare results and benchmark residents’ opinions compared with other communities across the country, as well as with the results of five years of prior community surveys in Redlands. The survey includes questions about quality of life, important characteristics of the community, services provided by Redlands and priorities for the future. The survey is available online in English and Spanish.
Residents with questions about the survey may contact Public Information Officer Carl Baker at (909) 798-7633 or by email at cbaker@cityofredlands.org or visit the survey site at https://www.cityofredlands.org/post/community-survey.
About The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™): The NCS was among the first scientific surveys developed to gather resident opinion on a range of community issues, and has been used in more than 350 jurisdictions across 46 states. The NCS is a cost-effective survey of resident opinion and an important benchmarking tool that allows for comparison among communities. Communities using The NCS have reported that the tool improved service delivery, strengthened communications with community stakeholders and helped leaders identify clear priorities for use in strategic planning and budget setting. The NCS is the only resident survey endorsed by the International City/County Management Association and the National League of Cities.
About Polco: (www.polco.us) Polco was developed to quickly deploy and analyze surveys online, providing the agility to gather critical information from community stakeholders throughout the nation. The company has created tools for governments, economic development organizations and nonprofits to measure community livability. Respondents to The NCS are asked to join the City’s Polco panel to see the survey results and continue to engage with the City on future research.
