New wildfire safety cameras go live in North Redlands

The City of Redlands has partnered with University of California San Diego’s ALERTCalifornia program for two new cameras providing enhanced situational awareness for the northern portion of the City and associated Santa Ana River wash area.

Leveraging advanced technology platforms such as the ALERTCalifornia network is a key component of the City’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan. The installation of these new cameras, named Redlands KREI 1 and 2, complement the existing cameras in the southern portion of the City, named Sunset Redlands 1 and 2. The onboarding of all cameras includes a thorough vetting process to ensure privacy is maintained by establishing permanently pixelated areas in the cameras’ viewing range; this includes private property areas of residences and businesses.
