Police Education and Community Engagement Classes to begin

The Redlands Police Department invites Redlands residents to attend the upcoming Police Education and Community Engagement (PEACE) classes.

This free academy will be taught by representatives from each section of the Police Department who will discuss how and why they do what they do. Participants will have the opportunity to meet local officers and gain insight into the department’s structure, operations, and day-to-day responsibilities. The goal of the PEACE classes (formerly known as the Citizens Academy) is to promote understanding between the community and law enforcement through education and interaction.

Those who register and attend classes will also be invited to participate in a Ride-Along with a patrol officer.

The classes will be moderated by retired Redlands Police Cpl. Rick Strobaugh.

Classes will be held Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Friday, Sept. 12, through Oct. 17 at the Joslyn Center, 21 Grant St.

Attendees must live or work in Redlands, be over 16 years of age and have no criminal record. Register at www.cityofredlands.org/rpd_peace_academy
