Downtown’s Morning Market to return after winter hiatus

Following its regular winter hiatus, Downtown’s Morning Market will return to the municipal parking lot adjacent to Ed Hales Park on Saturday, March 7.

The Certified Farmers Market features more than 30 local growers, bakers, artisans, entertainers and other vendors providing a variety of fresh and delicious offerings. The Downtown’s Morning Market is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays in the parking lot off Redlands Boulevard between Fifth and Sixth streets, near the Historic Downtown area of East State Street.

The Downtown’s Morning Market closed for its regular winter hiatus following the Saturday, Nov. 22, event. At that time, vendors were invited to remain active, joining another certified farmers market held on Saturday mornings at the Grove School.

During the hiatus, City staff also conducted a survey of local businesses in the area immediately surrounding the downtown market to determine any changes that may benefit the businesses or the market. The survey indicated that, while just over half the local businesses saw no impact from the market’s operation, about a third reported a positive impact to their business in terms of visibility and increased customers.

City staff will continue to evaluate the market’s operations to determine how best to serve residents, customers, vendors and local businesses.

With the return of the market, the City of Redlands is issuing an invitation to vendors to participate in the spring. The market is open to Certified Farmers, food vendors, artisan vendors, activity/entertainment vendors and cottage food vendors.

The City is currently accepting applications on an ongoing basis. Applications are available at www.cityofredlands.org/downtowns-morning-market
