How to Obtain a Free Kitchen Compost Pail

Residents Can Obtain One Kitchen Compost Pail by Stopping by Customer Service Located at 35 Cajon Street, Suite 15 a (where City Bills Are Paid) During the Following Days/hours:

  • Wednesday: 8am – 11am, 2pm – 4:30pm
  • Thursday: 8am – 11am, 2pm – 4:30pm
  • Alternating Fridays (matching City’s Calendar): 8am – 11am, 2pm – 4:30pm

**please Note only One Compost Pail Will Be Provided per Household. Proof of Residency Is Required**

Residential Service

All Refuse/trash, Green Waste, and Recycling Containers Must Be Placed Curbside for Collection Prior to 6:00 A.M. of Your Regular Collection Day to Avoid Being Missed. Collection Occurs at Any Time Between 6:00 A.M. and 2:30 P.M. in Rare Instances, Collection May Occur Later in The Day and Could Potentially Change from Week to Week.

Three Different Trucks Will Pass by Your Residence to Collect Refuse/trash, Yard Waste, and Recycling Waste Throughout the Day. a Missed Collection Must Be Reported to Our Office Within 24 Hours of Your Regular Collection Day to Receive a Make-Up Collection. Credits Are Not Issued for Missed Collections that Are Not Reported.

Containers Should Be Placed Curbside at Least 3 Feet from Any Obstacle, Such as A Parked Car or Fence, and At Least 1 Foot from Other Containers.

Trash Containers Should Be Removed from Streets as Soon as Possible After the Containers Have Been Collected, and In Any Event No Later than 10pm on Day of Service.

Blue Curb Service

Physically Challenged And/or Elderly Customers with Infinities, Who Do Not Have an Able-Bodied Person Assisting with Their Household or Business Activities, May Receive Set Out/set Back Service for Automated Containers upon Written Request to The City. the Request Shall Describe the Infirmity And/or Other Factors, and The Care They Are Receiving from A Family Member, a Service Provider or Other Assistance, for Their Infirmity, Which Require the Applicant to Receive Such Service. for Those People Who Are Approved for The Service There Shall Be No Extra Charge.  a Special Designation Shall Be Made to Alert the Collector to Provide the Service, Which Shall Continue until Termination, by The Director. if The Director Deems It Necessary, He Shall Have the Authority to Request that The Customer Provide Proof of The Physical Challenge or Infirmity from A Physician.

For Automated Customers Involving Special On-Premises Collection, as With Those Stated Above, Containers Shall Be Freely Accessible and Not Be Placed for Collection Inside Closed Buildings or A Gated Area.

Green Cart Information

A Separate Collection of Your Organic Green Waste Materials Is Required in The City. Place All Green Waste and Food Waste Materials in The Container Marked Yard Waste.

Beginning April 1, 2024, All Food Waste Must Be Disposed of In Your Green (yard) Waste Cart. Food Waste Will No Longer Be Permitted in Your Trash Cart.
  • Branches, Leaves, Sticks
  • Grass Clippings
  • Flowers
  • Weeds
  • Small Amount of Sawdust
  • All Food Waste (except Raw Meat and Bones)

Use This Bin for Routine Yard Trimmings that Generally Grow Back Each Week.

Why Organic Recycling?

Landfills Are the Third-Largest Source of Methane in California. Organic Waste Emits 20% of The State’s Methane; a Climate Super Pollutant up To 84 Times More Potent than Carbon Dioxide. by Participating in The City’s Organic Drop-Off Program, You Are Part of The Solution to Protect the Environment and Future Generations.

Unacceptable Items:

Trash, Dirt, Lumber, Large Amounts of Sawdust, Rocks, Stumps, Palm Fronds, Cactus, and Tree Limbs Larger than Six Inches in Diameter.

As with All Containers, Green Waste May Never Exceed the Upper Perimeter of The Container.

Contaminated Containers Will Not Be Collected by The Driver.

If Contamination Is Found Prior to Collection, Your Container Will Be Tagged with A Green Tag by The Driver and Left. Once You Have Removed the Contaminates, You Can Request a Special Pickup at An Extra Charge, or You May Place Your Container out The Following Week for Regular Collection.

Plastic Lawn Bags Are a Contaminate and Should Never Be Placed in Your Green Waste Container

  • Glass Bottles: wine, Beer, Oil, Soda
  • Glass Jars: sauce, Pickles, Preserves
  • Pvc: small Amounts of Pvc and Abs (cut Under 18 Inches)

*aerosol Cans Must Be Completely Empty of All Contents
