Human Relations Commission – Dist. 4

The Human Relations Commission was established to foster peaceful relations among persons of different races and national origins. This commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and to aid the City in achieving better human relations by providing assistance to all persons or groups in promoting good will and better relations among all people.

The Human Relations Commission meets quarterly on the second Monday of the month of March, June, September, and December at 6:30 p.m.

The Human Relations Commission consists of seven members. Five (5) members shall each be selected from one (1) council district and be appointed by the Council Member of that corresponding district. Two (2) commission members appointed by the city council shall be from the sophomore or junior class of a Redlands high school or a college student.

We are currently accepting applications for District 4 Residents ONLY. Municipal Utilities/Public Works Commission

Deadline for filing applications is October 5, 2026

The Municipal Utilities/Public Works Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and advises and assists the Municipal Utilities and Engineering Director, City Manager and other city departments by providing citizen review and input concerning all aspects of the management and operation of public works projects and facilities, thereby providing a direct channel for utilization of the citizen expertise available in the community.

This Commission meets quarterly on the first Monday of the months of January, April, July, and October at 4:00 p.m.

Cultural Arts Commission

Deadline for filing applications is October 2, 2026

The Cultural Arts Commission promotes public interest in arts, recommends new arts programs and sources of funding for those programs, assists the City Council by recommending policies to encourage, develop and support the arts in Redlands, and advises the City Council in the administration of the City’s “Art in Public Places” program.

The Cultural Arts Commission meets quarterly on the second Monday of March, June, September, and December at 4:00 p.m.  Residents interested in applying for the non-salaried position on this commission may request application forms from the City Clerk, City Hall, 35 Cajon Street, Suite 4, or by phone 798-7510, or from the City’s website below.

The Cultural Arts Commission currently has two (2) vacancies. One with an immediate start date and a second vacancy with an effective date of January 7, 2027. By applying you agree to be considered for both vacancies.

Student Commission Opportunity

The City of Redlands is once again seeking students to serve on three of its advisory commissions.  These commissions serve in an advisory role to the City Council.  Students appointed to these commissions serve as full voting members.

Applications are being solicited from sophomore and junior class students attending high school in Redlands.  Students serve for one full calendar year with the first six months as a sophomore/junior in high school, through the summer and the last part of the year as a junior/senior.

The following commissions have student members, and their meeting times are:

• Human Relations Commission – 6:30 pm. Quarterly – March, June, September, and December
• Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission – 4:30 p.m. Quarterly – March, June, September, and December
• Traffic and Parking Commission – 6:00 p.m. Quarterly – February, May, August, and November
